Adam's letter regarding the Golden Compass boycott was printed in the December 18th edition of the Utica Observer-Dispatch. The newpaper also posts the printed letters on their website but did not post Adam's letter. The editors said it was an accident but have yet to correct it. Hmmm...

Anyways, our good friends at the American Humanist Association have posted the letter on their site here.

Jamie Kilstein is one of the top slam poets in the nation. He was a featured headliner at the Brighton Arts Festival in Brighton England. Kilstein, age 24, was also featured in the largest French Newspaper Le Monde, England's The Fringe Report and Australia's Wo! Magazine. Jamie previously worked in stand-up comedy along with such greats as Dave Chapelle and Lewis Black. Currently, Jamie is a member of the Rational Response Squad, an outspoken group of Atheists determined to bring about religious and social change in America. He has also written a book, recorded a CD, and will soon have a DVD available. Jamie is currently on tour throughout the United States.

ARTICLES - Creationism, Faith, and the Demand for Evidence

Why is it that when Christian creationists deny evolution they not only do it on the grounds that it is not Biblical but they also claim there is no evidence to back it up? Now for those of us with the ability to read and understand an 8Th grade textbook we know full well that evidence exists. We see proof of evolution in many fields of science ranging from biology to genetics. For me, it would be quite acceptable and honest of them if they simply rejected evolution in this manner, “ I do not accept evolution because it contradicts my religious beliefs...end of story.”

We see excuses like this all the time in regards to religions. Mormons do not drink coffee because it’s a religious belief. Hindus avoid eating beef on the grounds of religious beliefs. These people do not need anything more than faith to hold onto these traditions. My biggest issue with creationists is not that they deny evolution

1. Besides online publishing, have you gotten your comics published in print? What are some magazines and newspapers that have printed your work?

[Jeff Swenson] Yeah over the years I've gotten quite a couple of pieces printed. It's not hard to be printed, it's just hard to get paid to do it. I liked the Bounce Collection that came out of Australia which had my work in it along with several other creators. I've been published in The Door Magazine several times. Early on I was published in Atheist Magazine but for some reason they messed with my lettering and made one of my cartoons look "godawful" (if you'll forgive the expression).

Recently, I decided to read The Book of Jubilees as part of my ongoing effort to learn as much about different aspects of Christianity and Judaism as I can. So I put down my worn copy of God is not Great and ordered a couple of books from Amazon.com. The majority of my reading in 2007 was dedicated to Biblical criticism and apologetics. This year I want to switch things up, so I am going to begin with more obscure religious texts such as The Gospel of Judas, The Book of Enoch, The Gospel of Mary, etc.
